The result of a research collaboration between INDEED research group of Jacobs University Bremen, Cardiff University (UK), University of Exeter (UK), Trinity College Dublin (Ireland), and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany) has been published in the IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics. It is one of the top IEEE journals in computer science and has an impact factor of 8.803 (2018).
The journal paper presents a novel cloud-based building energy management system, which comprises the whole information lifecycle, from data collection using sensors and software systems, data integration through semantic middleware, advanced analytics with machine learning, and visualization through a responsive web-based application. The solution integrates sensor-metering and simulation data to solve the discrepancy between theoretical simulation models and real metering data. The solution has been validated in five real pilot buildings in northern and southern Europe and has shown energy savings up to 25%.

On 3-4 May 2018, the PTM students gave the final presentations of their project works. The participants of PTM course were divided into nine groups with 5-6 members from at least three different countries in each group.
The multinational groups had to analyze different industry 4.0 technologies, e.g. Internet of things, 3D printing, big data, etc. and their potential applications in different sectors, e.g. automotive, food and beverages, retail, city/municipality, aerospace, etc. They also presented innovation and technology management concepts to introduce the new technologies in a company and also knowledge management approaches to manage knowledge related to the new technologies. Finally, they demonstrated new products and services that can be created from innovations using the new technologies and the corresponding business models.

Congratulations to the PTM students of Spring 2018 for completing the project work!
Bianca Ignat is currently conducting a survey for her thesis and we would really appreciate if you could please help us by filling it out. The aim of the survey is to find out what factors E-commerce customers consider when choosing between different last-mile delivery methods. Anyone who orders products online (regardless of the frequency) can participate. Please complete this short survey & get the chance of winning one of the four Amazon vouchers (worth 15€ each)!!
On Monday, 9th of April, 2018, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hendro Wicaksono delivered a talk at the forum of RENEXPO Augsburg. a trade fair focusing on energy efficient living. Prof. Wicaksono reported the research results, which is a software platform, that allows municipalities, citizen, and energy service industry to collaborate and to have integrated and continuous processes of energy management. The platform provides the digital infrastructure for reducing energy consumption and CO2 emission as well as for introduction of renewable energy power plants. The platform has been used in four European cities and municipalities to implement their visions in increasing energy efficiency awareness, improving energy efficiency, and optimizing the utilization of local renewable energy sources.
