Data-Driven Collaborative Decision Making in Complex Industrial Systems

Laila El Warraqi

Visiting Research Associate

Laila El Warraqi is a PhD candidate at the Department of Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering, Politecnico di Milano, where she is affiliated with the Manufacturing Group. Her research lies at the intersection of digital twins, sustainability, and circular economy, with a particular interest in how data-driven and semantic approaches can support more sustainable product lifecycle management. She has contributed to research on digital twin applications and sustainable manufacturing, including work related to electronics, waste management, and lifecycle strategies.

Since 1 March 2026, she has also been serving as a Visiting PhD Researcher at the Data-Driven Industrial Systems group. Her current research focuses on developing a digital twin based on semantic models for assessing the disassemblability of printed circuit boards (PCBs). The project investigates how ontologies, semantic reasoning, and knowledge-driven modelling can enhance end-of-life decision support for electronic products by going beyond time-based disassembly metrics and incorporating spatial constraints, tool-component compatibility, accessibility, and eco-design trade-offs. The broader goal is to support circular economy practices in the electronics sector through smarter design-for-disassembly and improved recovery of valuable materials.
