
Ahmad Samandari, PhD
Ahmad Samandari is a researcher in machine learning and data-driven intelligent systems with expertise in federated learning, computer vision, natural language processing, and time-series analysis. He is currently a PhD student at the University of Genoa, where his doctoral work focuses on sustainability and digitalization in the intermodal logistics chain, and he is also affiliated with the Italian National Research Council (CNR).
Since 1 March 2025, he has also been serving as a Visiting PhD Researcher at the Data-Driven Industrial Systems group. His current research focuses on federated learning and vision-language models (VLMs) in logistics, exploring how distributed AI and multimodal learning can support more intelligent, privacy-aware, and scalable logistics systems. Building on his background in video analytics and AI for logistics-related applications, his work contributes to the development of advanced data-driven methods for resilient and efficient logistics operations.
